Welcome to Light Antics—a new photography project dedicated to exploring how light shapes the way we see the human form.
About the Project
At its core, Light Antics is an ongoing visual study of illumination: how different lighting techniques and modifiers interact with the body to reveal structure, movement, and tone. By carefully controlling highlights, shadows, and reflections, the project aims to emphasize form and musculature in a way that feels sculptural and intentional, drawing inspiration from classical art, studio portraiture, and modern experimental lighting.
How it will work
This work is about light first. Soft diffusion, hard edges, directional beams, and reflective surfaces are used not as effects for their own sake, but as tools to guide the viewer’s eye and create images that feel dynamic, balanced, and thoughtfully composed. Each photograph is an experiment—an opportunity to test how subtle changes in angle, intensity, or modifier can dramatically alter the final image.
It’s important to be clear about the intent of the project. The focus is on artistry, technique, and visual storytelling. Because the images involve the body and minimal styling to properly showcase light and form, the project is designed for older participants. Respect, consent, and clear communication are central to every shoot. I would prefer over 16’s and anyone under 18 needs to have a parent contact me first to discuss how it all works.
Collaboarative Effort
This project also values collaboration. Subjects are not simply photographed; they are active contributors to the creative process. Posing, lighting choices, and overall direction are discussed openly to ensure comfort and shared creative ownership. The goal is to create images that feel confident, expressive, and authentic—never exploitative.
This is just the beginning. Thank you for being here and for following the journey as Light Antics takes shape.
